I have to implement a timer for minutes each of 60 seconds.

Its not an RTC, I already got a 05 diamond clock on my wrist, thank you.

I don't want to do zero crossing 50 Hz time base from AC mains either. thanks again. (may be it would run from DC)

Please suggest a very low cost time base.

Do you mean use a crystal with freq. of multiple of 12.
