Yet another idea came to my attention from a recent email newsletter that I get called:
There was an article from December 7, 2002 about the Phoenix Contact Subcon-Plus-CAN connector announcement. This unit is a D9 style unit with internal screw terminal connections and switchable termination resistor. It is designed for CAN applications but could just as easily be used for RS485 applications.
