I think that they probably found that there is more involved in releasing something like that into the wild.You need to be prepared for the constant stream of people who want support.
I have written a sort of Irda stack which isnt finished and needs some work on it but you are welcome to it if you want to finish it and dont expect me to spend any time with support.
