Mike,

This in conjunction with the statement from tech support (lock bits only programmable via parallel programming) would mean, that once the lock bits are set such that you attain highest security level, the chip will stay that way forever!
Since the chip leaves the factory with the highest security level activated, you'll never get a chance of having it run external code!
There must be something missing here!!
Did you try to alter the lock bit settings with your parallel programmer?
I will get back at tech support with this and will let you know the outcome.
