#37027 - Fast 8052 with pwm |
I have an application in which I am generating a pwm signal on P1.5 using pure software (by using timer 0 in 16-bit mode and loading the necessary value into it and flipping P1.5 at every interrupt). However, I can't generate the pwm signal at a high enough frequency. I am using an Intel 80C51 at 22.1184 MHz in a PLCC44 package.
Now for my question. To generate pwm at a higher frequency I can use a processor with automatic pwm generation but I can't find one that does this on P1.5 with 16-bit resolution for the duty cycle (yes, I actually need this) and which is a drop-in replacement so it will work on my current board. I could just get a faster processor (at least a factor of 10) and continue doing it in software, but again I need the PLCC44 drop-in replacement. Does anyone know if there exists a processor that will take care of this problem which is 8052-compatible? Another option is to go to the 251 architecture. Any comments on this possibility? There don't seem to be as many variations on the 251 as there are on the 8052, at least that I can find, although they do seem to be very fast. Also, I would have to buy a new compiler. Help! |
