Hi Jessica
The classic telephone contains circuits that do exactly what you want to do. The old fashioned telephone used a clever transformer, a kind of Balun I suppose to allow two way comms. Modern phones use an op-amp circuit to do the same thing. Look at the phone and you have a lot of the answer to the intercom question. We are not a general electronics site,but often help anyway.
