Dear friends,

I am working on a project that use 8051 to control an external modem through MAX233. Just like the following circuit:

Cause the external modem take up too much space, so I want to make it internal. Some friends from the forum have suggested the use of socket modem, and I have checked out on the web. The function and size is perfect but is way too expensive, $50 for a 33.6K.

Can someone pls give me a hand and tell me how to achieve what I want? 8051 directly talk to the modem chipset? if so, how?
