I agree with you entirely, but I s'pose the counter argument might be that if you don't recognise the part number, then you're hardly likely to have the answer to the question?

Having said that, I will now dismiss the argument with the following:

Questioners receive support here for free, so it is only fair if they in turn make some contribution to the forum - the least of which would be to say what this device is, and provide a link to the manufacturer's website.
That way, anyone whose interest is sparked by the thread will be able to follow it up!
