If you are thinking of the slave address A0 which is usually an eeprom address ,I would expect that they chose A2&A3 for the RTC so they can use A0,A1 (for eeprom) if the embedded them both into the same package.
FYI.. The Dallas 1307 uses D0 and D1 for its slave address |
