#41236 - RE: DS5000 Responding to: ???'s previous message |
According to Dallas, both the DS5000 and the DS2250 are called 'modules'. The only difference between these two is the packaging. Your DS2250 is the 40-pin SIMM (8K, 32K or 64K)and the DS5000 is 40-pin PDIP (16K or 32K).
I don't believe any of the Dallas soft/secure MODULES allow testing of the standing voltage because the battery is sealed inside the shell/case. You can't see it, just a bulge in the DS2250 case (I believe) and the DS5000 is just thicker. Reminds me of a domino. Now, part #'s for the chips are different. These are the chips only, no lithium, and all surface mount. DS5000FP, DS50001FP, DS5002FP (more secure). Use of memory is different and varies between these. On all of these, the battery is selected by the user and Dallas recommends soldered battery terminals instead of spring tension. Dan |
