If this is all the code , then I will be surprised if the LCD displays anything!! How is anyone supposed to know what are in the two routines that are being called ? In any case suggest start with the LCD tutorials on the laft side links and reach the first step of initializing - As soon as the system is reset, the LCD will be blank and adjusting the contrast will alter the "blackness" of the digits . If you had initialized in 1 line mode, then the top line alone will respond, else both lines will respond if you had initialized in 2 line mode, Reach that stage and then tell your problems...
