In the beginning of using modern type schematic and PC layout packages I used to spend hours of time worrying about finding ready made symbols libraries. Then when I found them I almost always found things not suitable about them for my designs. Sometimes they have downright errors in them!! And it takes almost as much time to check all aspects of public symbol as it does to make a new one (once you get on to how to use the symbol creator and editor function in your CAD package).

Thus I have taken to making all my own symbols. As I move from design to design I tend to use the same parts again and again, so very soon on a new project I find I only will have to make 20% new symbols. I keep them in personal libraries. For example after about 7 years of using Orcad Capture for Windows these personal libraries have over 225 parts in them!!
