Yes not ALL crystals can produce ALL baud rates. And the reason for this will be evident if you just spend a little time with the Baud rate calculations that are printed in every data sheet worth its name for a 8052 derivative. As long as timer reloads are going to be integers only, you have to live with the rounding off errors. And if the crystal you have, cannot deliver the baud rate you want then look for a ONE that can.
