#43179 - RE: Welding Susceptibility - Lee Responding to: ???'s previous message |
I am the only EE on the team and sometimes the ME's forget to unplug the electronics before welding. Perhaps I should make those pull-tags that fighter jets have while on the ground...
I suppose I can switch over to breakaway connectors for everything, including the power distribution box. I already have those on the dash and the fuel injection computer. The biggest breakaway plugs on Digikey are rated at 15A per pin, so I will have to use 3 or 4 pins for each high-current connection like the starter and battery (this is a motorcycle engine, so we're not talking more than 50A on starting). Not the most elegant solution, but sure beats replacing a fried board. Thanks. - Lee |
