#43221 - RE: bin to hex and to asm????urgent Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Hi Dave,
Bin files and hex files can contain the same information, they are just in different format. As has been stated before, a hex file is an ascii intel format used for programmers. Bin is a raw binary file. Most programmers can take either format. Utilities are available to convert between the two. I am assuming that 'ppl' means people (spell it out next time please). Yes, a product can be manufactured with either a hex or bin file. Personally, I would rather have the source files so product maintenance would be easier. I suppose that was the reason for the original question regarding disassemblers. Are you trying to manufacture a product not of your own design? Reverse engineering or stealing someone else's design? This is a task that won't be supported by most members of this forum. Or are you trying to decide what is the minimum deliverable to a customer you are programming for? If that's the case, that should be determined before the contracts are signed. As a customer I would want the source files in case changes need to be made and you weren't available...as a contractor I would want to keep the source files to maximize future income. Something to negotiate. Dennis |
