The latest EDN Magazine (4/3/03) has an interesting keyboard idea in the Design Ideas section. It's called "Novel idea implements low-cost keyboard."

From my perspective it's interesting because it allows the creation of a keyboard with a single pin interface to the uC, and requires a timer and counter to determine which key was pressed.
