Hallo Erik,
Ashwin needs something to produce a pulse between 1µsec...110µsec. Tune the monoflop to 50µsec and everything is fine. By the way, 74HC221 might be better. It's non retriggerable. If just found a datasheet of 74LS221 from Texas Instruments. There you can read: 'Pulse width stability is achieved through internal compensation and is virtually independent of Vcc and temperature. In most applications, pulse stability will only be limited by the accuracy of external timing components.' Later in datasheet (figure 2, 3 and 4) typical characteristics are shown: between -40°C and +60°C variation in output pulse width is less than +-0.25%, between Vcc=4.75V and Vcc=5.25V variation in output pulse width is also less than +-0.25%. Taking both errors together failure is smaller than 0.5%. So 50µsec pulse is actualy laying between 49.75µsec...50.25µsec, which is well inside allowed pulse interval of 1µsec...110µsec. Bye, Kai |
