Yes Hans, you are right.
I actually just mentioned a reason to use EEPROM in these Flashy days that we live in. Also whenever possible I try not to alter the basic hardware that a person says he is using. First a solution for his problem on hand, and then a suggestion for better options. Most times the first point is never handled and you have the guy come back crying "I am a student - my professor says me to use a 8255 blah blah " or " I live in Timbuktoo and there are no shops here" !!
