Just rephrase your posting by replacing the "8051" with "embedded" and the answer is a BIG yes when it comes to job opportunities.

Going by your name I think you must be from India. And here it is a technology that is starting to proliferate - in the last 4 years I have converted 30 different hydraulic control applications into embedded solutions. OK all of them were one-off kind for the industry and had they been for the consumer market, I would have been on cloud-9.

But with the limited access to both hardware and affordable software here, it is not a bed-of-roses. Situation is far better now - you atleast can buy through the net with your card.
