please tell me if its a bad idea to use a dac + 8051 and a comparator to build an 8051 + adc.

1. 8051 waits untill conversion is done, why doesn't it generates succesive aproximations itself.

2. if interrupt structure is used with adc to avoid above wait, so can be done by connecting the o/p of comparator to an int.
