#4541 - Modem driving pros and cons |
Opinions please on the following question:
I need to drive a modem from an 8052, a full device with the onboard UART, but without all the handshaking lines, and at no more than 19 Kbd Should I a.) do the handshaking in software and use port pins or b.) Use a serially addressed modem chip like Maxim's Max 3100 series or c.) Use an INS62550 or similar UART chip ? Thanks for your opinions. Steve |
