It is, fortunetely, the case that most ICE manufacturers let their software be freely available with a clause "to be used with xyz hardware". Thus the fact thaat someone have the software does not make them the owner. About once a year we see a request like this and using the software with reverse engineered hardware does indeed constitute theft. The only thing that can come from issues like this is more dongles and unpleasenness like that.
