Hi Rob,
Yeah, an abacus would be OK. I was thinking though that the optical portion of the 8051 slide rule would be more on the order of a bar code reader, if you're looking at it closely enough. I suppose you could just put in the approprate encoders on the slide and cursor. There is a website simulates a slide rule, complete with digital output I believe for the slide rule-challenged, in a Java applet. Oh dear, I think I'm showing my age now... Dennis |
