Without seeing your context, we can only guess. I'd guess it's either about protecting against data corruption due to power brown-outs whilst writing (look up Supervisor circuits), or it's about support for multiuser/multitasking protection - as in the Protected Mode on the 80286 and later (not a thing for the 8051!!). |
