You can download an evaluation copy of Keil C51 that can compile small programs. It does come with examples.

To start off with, I would recommend modifying the hello.c program until you get it working. It uses printf to send a message through the UART. Then READ READ READ about C and the 8051. Spend as much time as you can reading Keil's knowledgebase articles. Most of your questions can be answered there.
