Optical switches (as opposed to DXCs) are the new technology here in the "Telecom Corridor" of the U.S. Anything improving fiber interconnect has a good future.

I'm told that optical switches makes ring topography old news and restores mesh topography to the forefront; a friend of mine said my old patented mesh planning algorithm was being dusted off again after the non-use during the "ring-years". :)
