#47273 - RE: ATkeyboard protocol on barcode scanner? Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Abhishek.....He said the bar code scanner was a keyboard wedge. These devices connect between the keypoard connector and the keyboard. The protocol is the sme as the keyboard so that in normal usage the regular PC keyboard interface and BIOS software can take in the input.
It could be that he has the bar code scanner configured incorrectly. Some scanners are capable of operation as either a keyboard wedge OR an RS232 protocol to a COMM port. On the ones I have seen there is a different cable dongle for each mode and one must use some type of setup sequence to enable the proper mode in the bar code scanner software. The scanners I have seen are often setup by powering the scanner and then having it read special bar code sequences out of the back of the users manual. Michael Karas |
