No, much better/safer/cleaner to isolate the input stage with an opto if you are doing this. We always do.
Better still to switch AC 24V and rectify the output - AC cleans the contacts even better. A schmitt trigger is essential too. There are rectifying optoisolators for this, or you can add your own discrete, single diode/capacitor arrangement - and a schmitt trigger. Steve |
