Intel has a good application note on implementing I2C in assembly language for 8051. Search the Intel website for MCS51 documentation. Surely you will find it. Also, Dallas App.note 95, which is primarily for controlling the DS1307 RTC will also be very useful. The DS1307 operates on I2C protocol only. Search it on Dallas' website.
