An EEPROM interfacing to 89c51 is no different from interfacing anormal EPROM electrically. I think they all follow the same JEDEC interface or some such standard. And yes you can use it as a data memory. To be frank, I cannot figure out what else its purpose in life is. But the biggest issue is the access times. The read and write are ( generally ) not as fast as a normal EPROM. Please grab the data sheet NOW and read all about it - if you compare the AC characteristics with that of a normal EPROM you can find that out yourself. Best wishes for your project. Raghu |
