You can use a zener diode across the collector and emitter of the transistor to clamp the inductive energy. This provides rapid deenergization (is that a word?) for the coil that is probably not needed here. This scheme is used with some fuel injectors.
A normal diode across the relay coil would be cheaper though. - Lee |
