I once were charged with doing that legally (the only copy of the source burned) and ended up wasting a lot of time before throwing it away and just coding the thing - and this was even assembly code. is, indeed, true. Erik PS I do believe that if you have an extremely fancy algorithm, there may be a case for protection; however 'just do it' code does not come easier with a disassembly in hand. There is, of course the case of someone copying your code without even bothering to disassemble it, but there you have one of two cases: 1) the market is so small that the cost of copying a protected ROM is prohibitive - or 2) the market is so big that you can afford to sue for copyright infringement. |
