I think that some devices (I'm not sure whether EEPROM, flash or both) are 'intelligent' in the sense that a byte won't be written if the contents of the target location already contain the same byte. On other devices it simply doesn't matter as the lifetime of the device isn't reduced by writing the same byte multiple times.
You'll have to read the datasheet to find out what the situation is with your device. |
