You may want to consider NiCads or NiMH batteries in the AAA - D sizes. You can get them anywhere, chargers are cheap, and battery holders are easy to get. Detailed information about many kinds of batteries can be found at Energizer's Technical Information Website. I would strongly consider those types of batteries before choosing a battery that is more expensive, has a unique case, and requires a specialized charging system.
