In general you CAN'T put other think than a logic gate to the output.
Small? Why? because is a 3mm led instead 5mm led? Read the datasheet of your device, the max IoH current will be much less than 1mA and your led need 15mA. If you want to put a led directly to a port pin you must do the oposite, put the led to +vcc to the pin an make active low (read the max IoL in your datasheet co calculate the resistor) in some derivates (not all) will work. |
