Aha, you are right; anyway sometimes it is useful to have something switched on before MCU comes up. For example, in one of our apps we have connected relay via n-p-n. While power ups, the relay switches on and disables some parts of device. After MCU initializes itself so it puts a pin to the ground and relay switched off.
