I has been stated in earlier threads also .
why do you bother for I2C IC , just use a piezo speaker (without oscillator) and connect it
to the port of your uC ,now write different routines by using the internal timer to generate various frequency outputs say BEEP-1 , BEEP-2 etc .Now call these routines when ever you require simple !.
