#54622 - RE: Advantage of using a checksum? Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Hi,
As for me so all my programs are controlled with CRC-16. I use 0x1021 polynome. After start it calculates CRC from all the program/data segments (with CRC table it does not take a long time) and if it is valid then goes to main execution. If it is not passed then my program stays in error loop (flashes a red LED). Well, you may call me a maniac (= but I am not. You know, it has been used for many years and the result is that sometimes it is possible that code goes broken somehow. Only that CRC control safes me from troubles I might reach due corrupt flash/PROM and random results of such un-controlled execution. Oh yes, say me about watchdog as well (= Good days! |
