#54624 - RE: How much current can a ds89c420 handle? Responding to: ???'s previous message |
hi,
when output is low voltage at the output goes to Vol and it can sink the listed current. sink means it draws current from external source (which is butobviously on higher potential) in to the device. when output is high, it becomes Voh volts and it sources listed current. sources means external input can draw a small current from it. to activate higher current loads use following setup when you output a '0' output goes to Vol and voltage diff across the load becomes Vcc-Vol and a current (Vcc-Vol)/Rload flows through the load. when you output a '1' the voltage differance becomes Vcc-Voh and a small current (Vcc-Voh)/Rload flows. abhishek |
