A monitor is some code to help you debug in your target; it runs in your hardware, and uses your hardware's resources.
It will have facilities like examining registers, starting execution, editing memory, setting breakpoints,... http://www.keil.com/c51/mon51.htm A monitor might well include a boot loader. |
