#56329 - Sugestions for a project |
I'm about to start writing a small application to control small DC motors. That application will have a shutdown feature to prevent overheating of the motor. The temperature will be controlled using a NTC or PTC, since these are the only temperature sensors that I have at hand :-). Since many members of the forum are industry professionals I'm asking for a sugestion: a NTC or PTC isn't a linear device and sometimes even the datasheet isn't available to assist in the implentation of a lookup table or a linear aproximation, what you, as customers and professionals would prefer: - a display showing a temperature (approximated, maybe even "calibrated" using a conventional thermometer) or - a display showing something like "normal temp", "high temp"? I have doubts if a customer would prefer a numeric, but imprecise, display or just an indication (imprecise too, since the sensor is the same) of overheating. TIA orlando |
