Hello,
I am using RTC PCF8583 .
I have query on bit6 of control/status register.

Data sheet is available on the following link

Bit6 is defined as :
Bit 6 --Hold last count flag
0: count
1: store and hold last count in capture latches

Does it mean that when i read the counter values from RTC ,i should set the bit to 1 ??
But it has been mentioned on page5 of datasheet that:
when one of the counter is read ,the contents of all counters are strobed into capture latches at begining of read cycle.
What i dont understand is ,it the programmers duty to set the bit6 to 1 or the RTC latches it internally.
If RTC latches it internally then when is the bit6 used
