Not sure if your Interrupt Service Routine has a problem - but your translator sure has major problems!

Most times when working with interrupts, such behaviour : Working for some time and then freezing : may have something to do with the ISR - either it is too long or messes up with main line registers or some such issue.

As Erik asked, posting your ISR can help analyse the problem in detail.
