#57068 - RE: Sure memory? -> Statistics!
Responding to: ???'s previous message

Hi Kai,

((Would you choose this chip for a california desert application?))

Definitely not.

I would search for another manufacturer who can guarantee the specifications I need.
I know such diagrams from different devices.
I would use your circuit in Antarctica as the manufacturer wants to suggest.
Here are no contradictions between this diagram and the comments in my previews mail.
I pointed we must strictly follow the data sheets specifications an use those values witch are guarantee by the manufacturer . The manufacturer ( a serious one ) must provide the conditions for witch the parameters are guarantee ( domestic, space, Sahara or Antarctica temperatures, humidity, acceleration etc.).
In your example, the specification is obvious: 10 years data retention time at +55 C.
No mention of the words “ California desert”.
This is the parameter’s value I trust as the manufactures complain to be the minimum value ( so is guarantee I think ).
Also, I think, it is no meaningless to suppose the “Typ” value we can expect ( statistically ) is much higher then 10 years ( the “Typ” field is no filed in your table but it is a common sense to believe it is higher then “Min”)
I thing also the circuit doesn’t function all its life at the extreme conditions .
If you have another opinion please let me know as I am also very concerned of this problem ; not of data retention time but the endurance of some 8052 derivatives.
My problem is to lower some prices without sacrificing the reliability.

Best regards,

Cristian
