#5724 - RE: LCD [unknown].. |
Hi Ofir,
This is the usual pin-out for an LCD: 1 = +5V or 0V! 2 = 0V or +5V! 3 = contrast, about 800mV via a trimmer 4 = RS (1 for data, <0 for control codes) 5 = R/W (lazy people tie this to ground, but the display can be run faster if you read back the busy status from D7) 6 = E (enable pulse) 7 thru 14 = D0 thru 7 15 & 16 are for the back-light, if it's installed. See previous posts for this one. Sorry about the pins 1 & 2, but there is no standard! Also, it's coommon practice to put the connector for a flat cable on the solder side of the LCD, which inverses the odd- & even-numbered pins! All this keeps us on our toes. Do your very best to identify the display & find the manufacturers data sheet - it takes time, but reduces the risk of a fire! Regards, Richard PS. Hey Craig, when are we doing an LCD tutorial? This component causes more grief on this forum than any other! |
