Ah well the whole point is that nobody knows how aliens might choose to communicate,as they are aliens,and the best anyone can do is to imagine how we might do it if we wanted to send a message to anyone who might be listening.If we detect thought whatever means some signal which is clearly not natural,such as a sequence of prime numbers then we worry about what to do about it.
