Maybe he needs serial/console access with an older machine... or maybe as a safety escape...

Once I was installing a RAS 3000km away from home and suddenly my windows panicked and wouldn't boot. Using Telemate I could do a basic network configuration, so my colleagues could remotelly acces the RAS and finish it's configuration.

without a DOS program I would have to stay one or two days more on trying to fix the notebook or waiting for a new one.
