Thank you for your response. I am aware that actually writing out escape codes is fairly straightforward; my hope is to find a library that offers a reasonably complete abstraction for terminal control, perhaps something along the lines of curses (or a subset thereof; a complete implementation would probably be excessive on an 8051).
