#60817 - RE: Asm variables from C keil Responding to: ???'s previous message |
You cannot in general expect that if code is written one way that you can get another piece of code to interface to it when it is written in a different language using an incompatible syntax!! It is downright silly to say that something is cast in concrete and cannot be changed.
I have a major gripe with assembler language programmers that use hard coded addresses for their data variables and then expect the code to be portable, modular, extensible, and maintainable. Hard coded variable addresses and function addresses should only be used under very specific conditions or very specialized application. And then when hard coding is used the programmer takes FULL responsiblilty or having done so. I suggest you get this issued fixed the proper way using RSEG directives and DB, DS, DW data allocation directives. Michael Karas |
