You are right Andy. The PDF is entitled "The final word on the 8051" by Matthew Chapman. I have downloaded (don't remember from where, i just googled to find it) and printed it and I can say it is very good. Also try the "Bible" from Philips. It is in 3 PDFs. You can find the URLs for that in the links section of this site. Don't forget to visit Intel's site for the manual of the MCS-51 product family (And not only that... Lot of useful application notes for the original 8051 are begging to be downloaded). And of course, last, but not least, try the tutorials, that you can find here too... Oh, I forgot to mention:
